Senior Finance Manager – Capital and Business Case Assurance

Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and knowledgeable Senior Finance Manager to become a vital part of our capital finance team. In this essential role, you will provide a comprehensive business case assurance service, assisting managers and personnel throughout the Southwest Region. This position offers the chance to cultivate a blend of subject matter expertise and technical proficiency in business cases, thereby enhancing our service delivery. Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the business case process at all stages, ensuring thorough preparation and submission for national approval.
  • Generate and present comprehensive financial reports, analyses, and recommendations for business cases requiring national endorsement.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the regional business case function.
  • Assist NHS organizations in developing business cases that comply with DHSC and HMT guidelines, including the green book/five case model.
  • Support project plan execution by identifying risks and issues, enabling proactive resolutions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A professional accounting qualification such as CIMA or ACCA (or actively pursuing one).
  • Experience in capital accounting and auditing is advantageous.
  • Substantial experience in financial management, ideally within the NHS or healthcare sector.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex financial data and derive actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Business Intelligence systems is a plus.
  • A comprehensive understanding of NHS financial procedures and governance frameworks.
