About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Specialty Doctor to join our team at Cygnet Health Care, a leading provider of specialist mental health services. As a Specialty Doctor, you will play a vital role in shaping our services and providing high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist
  • Assess referrals and undertake mental state examinations of service users
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and attend multidisciplinary meetings
  • Attend Care Programme Approach and Section 117 meetings and mental health review tribunals
  • Provide up-to-date clinical information at all meetings
  • Ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned
  • Audit medical services and ensure compliance with GMC and other professional guidelines
  • Uphold policies and procedures and contribute to service governance and development

Requirements
  • Fully GMC registered and MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • Experienced within a mental health setting
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledgeable of mental health legislation and codes of practice
  • An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgment and ability to manage risk
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess, and treat patients and write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Preferably approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act and a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent
CESR Programme

This program will help you develop the skills you need to progress to Consultant level and you will rotate within wards/services to gain valuable experience across various subspecialties.

You will also have an educational supervisor to review your progress and oversee your development and you will receive support with MRCPsych exams.
