Position Overview

The Critical Care department at University Hospital of North Midlands encompasses 36 General and Neuro-intensive care beds, supported by a dedicated team of 12 Consultants, Junior medical staff, and Advanced Critical Care Practitioners (ACCPs). The successful candidate will integrate into a team of 8 specialty doctors and ACCPs, providing essential daytime and on-call coverage for the critical care unit on a 1:8 rotation.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves active participation in delivering a safe and effective Anaesthetic Service at the University Hospital of North Midlands. Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging in routine clinical duties to ensure high standards of patient care.
  • Providing out-of-hours support across various rotas, contingent upon demonstrated competencies, with a frequency of 1:8.
  • Contributing to clinical governance and quality enhancement initiatives within the department.
  • Involvement in the education, training, and mentorship of anaesthetic trainees and medical students from Keele Medical School.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time experience as an anaesthetist post-primary medical qualification or equivalent critical care experience.
  • Proven ability to deliver safe and effective immediate care for critically ill patients across all age groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Primary FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
  • APLS/ATLS or equivalent certification.

GMC Registration

Essential

  • Valid GMC Registration.
