About the Role

As an Emergency Service Officer with South Gloucestershire Council, you will play a vital role in enabling residents to remain living independently in their own homes. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate a rapid response service, ensuring the efficient provision of emergency and urgent personal care welfare visits to residents in need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, assess, and implement emergency personal care packages for new and existing service users, promoting independence and delivering a high standard of personalized care.
  • Coordinate an immediate response to Telecare and Carer's emergencies, utilizing your specialist knowledge, skills, and experience to respond to complex situations.
  • Assess service users with complex needs in emergency situations out of hours, compiling and implementing short-term care packages to be reviewed by the appropriate daytime services.
  • Ensure that all responders in your team have a Care Certificate where necessary and that all are up to date with supervisions, team meetings, and training.

Requirements

  • You must have a recognized and relevant professional qualification, such as a Dip Social Work or NVQ 4 in Social Care (with management components), and be registered with the appropriate authority where applicable.
  • You will have knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • You may also have knowledge of the processes and procedures of an emergency response team.

Working Arrangements

This is an ad-hoc contract, and you will be required to cover out-of-hours shifts. The working hours are as follows: Monday to Thursday, 16:30 to 22:15, Friday, 16:00 to 22:00, and Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holidays, 8:00 to 15:00 or 15:00 to 22:15.

Hourly Rate

The casual hourly rate for this position is £17.59.
