As a Senior Risk Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in steering the risk management strategy within the Corporate Office sector of the organization, which encompasses Communications, Public Affairs, ESG, the CEO Office, and Industry Engagement.

Your profound expertise in risk will enable you to support and provide a robust second line of defense to the Corporate Office teams in their endeavors related to risk identification, management, and mitigation.


Risk Management Strategy:

You will actively collaborate with the Business to advance the risk management strategy for the teams you engage with.


  • You will be tasked with disseminating risk knowledge and insights to the First Line stakeholders within the Corporate Office teams you collaborate with, while also facilitating knowledge sharing among the Second Line Risk Partner community.

Engagement with First Line:
The Risk Advisor will assist the Executive Risk Partner for the Corporate Office in fulfilling their risk management obligations, which include identifying risks that may hinder the achievement of objectives, assessing and evaluating risks against SWIFT's risk appetite, and defining risk mitigation strategies as necessary, along with quarterly risk monitoring.

Training Responsibilities:

You will oversee the daily training of Corporate Office teams in the Risk Management Framework, offering coaching on risk identification, management, and mitigation as required.


Risk Theme Identification:

You will leverage your risk expertise to identify prevalent risk themes and will be responsible for sharing data and insights with the Corporate Office teams, risk partners, and the Center of Excellence (CoE) for reporting purposes. Additionally, you will escalate significant risks to the Executive Risk Partner for the Corporate Office.



Data Management, MI, and Monitoring:

You will be accountable for scrutinizing risk data produced by the Corporate Office teams, providing risk data to the Risk Center of Expertise, monitoring key anticipated and evolving risks within the Corporate Office teams, and serving as an escalation point for critical material risks that necessitate higher-level input.


Reporting Duties:

You will assist in quarterly risk reporting and monitoring, supplying relevant information to the CoE.


  • Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs): You will oversee, challenge, advise, and support the execution of RCSAs within the Corporate Office teams. Maintaining a strong understanding of the topics managed within the Corporate Office and the associated risks will be essential.

Reporting Structure: You will report to the Executive Risk Partner for the Corporate Office.

Your role will involve providing insights and escalating significant risks that could substantially impact the organization when necessary.


  • Collaboration with Risk Partners: You will coordinate efforts to ensure the delivery of oversight, challenge, and support, collaborating with other risk partners across the function to share best practices.
  • Engagement with the Head of CoE: You will work together to establish a data-centric approach to management reporting and decision analysis, collaborating to learn best practices and enhance risk frameworks and methodologies.
  • Interaction with the Head of Policy Governance Framework: You will collaborate to comprehend key policy changes and their business implications.
  • Liaison with the Head of Controls Testing: You will promote the control testing framework, ensuring Corporate Office teams are effectively supported and challenged in managing risk.
  • Maintenance of Risks: You will ensure that risks across Corporate Office teams remain within established Risk Appetite parameters.
  • Information Sharing: You will facilitate the effective management and feedback of valuable information and risk insights to the Business and the Risk Department.
  • Cross-Functional Knowledge Sharing: You will promote knowledge sharing across functions.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Technological Proficiency:
Possesses a solid understanding of the products and services offered by financial services firms.

Demonstrates working knowledge of the technologies, programs, and processes necessary to support the creation of business value and the risk landscape of individual products.

This knowledge will be applied to contribute to risk discussions related to various products.

Policy Oversight and Challenge:
Maintains a good awareness of policy compliance and oversight processes.

Relationship Management Skills:
Actively seeks input from others and encourages diverse opinions, even when they differ from personal views.

Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks:
Possesses a solid understanding of risk identification, can define risk appetite, assess risk impact, and determine risk likelihood.

Capable of defining and applying the risk assessment process, the risk monitoring process, and measuring risks against SWIFT's Risk Appetite at a detailed level across various risk reporting categories and their supporting risk areas.

Experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA): Familiarity with the RCSA process, tools, and frameworks, and can provide support to the first line of defense in conducting control testing.
