Legal Counsel – General Counsel's Office - Dispute Resolution Focus

Location: Flexible across any GTUK office, with options for hybrid or remote work

The General Counsel's Office provides guidance on a diverse array of contentious and non-contentious risk matters that emerge in the provision of professional services across assurance, tax, and advisory sectors.

Role Insights

As a legal professional specializing in dispute resolution within our internal legal team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a variety of claims, challenges, and initiatives, such as: professional liability disputes against the firm, regulatory matters including inquiries and investigations, professional indemnity insurance issues, litigation, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution strategies, as well as other risk management concerns.
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues in our internal legal team to provide solution-oriented and commercially viable advice to Grant Thornton's personnel, including partners and senior stakeholders.
  • Engaging and overseeing external solicitors, counsel, and independent experts in matters related to professional services disputes.

This position may appeal to a litigator currently serving as a junior or mid-level associate at a commercial law firm, though we welcome applications from all candidates who can demonstrate the requisite skills for the role.

Are You the Right Fit?

To join us as a Legal Counsel, the essential qualifications include:

  • You are a qualified solicitor or barrister with significant and demonstrable experience in commercial dispute resolution and procedures in England and Wales or another common-law jurisdiction.
  • You possess a solid understanding of law and procedures related to professional liability, ideally concerning professional advisors.
