Automotive Workshop Controller

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Workshop Controller to join our dynamic team at Lookers. As a key member of our Aftersales Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our workshop, delivering exceptional customer service, and achieving business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and motivate a team of technicians and apprentices to achieve daily targets and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Proactively review and prioritize the daily workload to ensure efficient use of resources and minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager to ensure the department provides the best possible service to customers and achieves agreed profits and retention levels.
- Maintain high standards of quality control and inspection within the workshop and surrounding areas.
- Liaise with colleagues and other departments to ensure a top-quality service for customers.
- Schedule work to meet customer needs, taking into account workshop targets, job complexity, and part availability.
- Assist with technical challenges and provide support to technicians during repairs.
Requirements
- Minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent) and a solid understanding of COSHH legislation, trade practices, and consumer legislation.
- Experience managing a team within a busy Service/Workshop environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Full valid UK driving license.
