Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK), a subsidiary of Stadler, specializes in providing train maintenance services to an expanding clientele in the UK. The upcoming integration of over 150 new Stadler trains into the UK Rail Network marks an exciting chapter for Stadler in the UK. Our depot locations offer a broad range of opportunities for individuals aspiring to build a career in the UK Rail Industry.

We are currently in search of a Traincare Supervisor to join our team, reporting directly to the Fleet Duty Manager. This role is a fixed-term contract with a focus on managing the performance of Traincare Operatives, ensuring that cleaning standards for Train Presentation and associated quality benchmarks are upheld, and that timely outputs are achieved for audit purposes. The successful candidate will oversee the proper use and control of cleaning materials by the Traincare Team.

Key Responsibilities


• Work a roster aimed at achieving SQR targets, including weekends and holidays as necessary.

• Primarily stationed at the depot, with responsibilities extending to emergency situations to facilitate the cleaning of various vehicles.

• Act as a 'Working Supervisor' when required to assist with cleaning programs and meet SQR targets, performing all duties associated with Train Care Operatives.

• Ensure that SQR and depot standards are maintained and audited for ongoing effectiveness.

• Manage the performance of Train Care personnel and maintain accurate records to ensure required standards and outputs are met.

• Control and ensure the correct usage of Train Care materials, providing training and assessments as needed.

• Deliver timely and precise reports to Fleet Duty Managers and Train Care Manager regarding materials used, vehicle conditions, and any arising issues with suggestions for efficiency improvements.

• Conduct SAP13 duties as required.

• Inspect, verify, and maintain records for all cleaning machines and equipment to ensure operational readiness.

• Organize and prioritize the daily work of Train Care Operatives efficiently and cost-effectively, in alignment with maintenance programs and depot duties.

• Ensure staff adhere to established cleaning schedules and perform necessary quality inspections.

• Supervise contractors engaged in work to meet SQR demands.

• Collaborate with the Fleet Duty Manager regarding daily programs and additional duties, including depot maintenance and SQR initiatives.

• Oversee the daily operation of the Automatic Vehicle Wash, ensuring it functions correctly and that necessary supplies are available.

• Adhere to all relevant safety regulations, work instructions, and directives from Fleet Duty Managers/Engineers.

• Safely train apprentices and other staff members on a comprehensive range of duties, including competency-based training as required.

• Assist in preparing Safe Systems of Work, Rule Changes, Risk Assessments, and conduct Safety Management checks as necessary.

• Support non-Engineering Group staff in tasks related to rolling stock or depot operations.

• Maintain accurate examination sheets, cleaning records, and other relevant documentation using appropriate IT systems or paper-based methods.

• Perform any duties for which training has been completed and competency has been established, such as operating Fork Lift trucks when necessary.

• Additional responsibilities may include the handling and movement of equipment related to Train Care activities.

• Contribute to and monitor depot cleanliness and environmental responsibilities.

• Participate in any Service Quality Regime work as required.

• Execute any tasks outlined in the attached Skills Matrix where the Traincare Supervisor is trained and deemed competent.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

• Physically fit and active

• Positive and approachable individual with a helpful demeanor

• Dependable, punctual, and possessing a strong attendance record

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Flexible approach to work

• Positive attitude towards training and a solid understanding of Health and Safety

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous experience in an engineering workshop

• Familiarity with steam cleaning equipment

• Knowledge of soaps, detergents, and chemical cleaners

• Valid driver's license

• Experience with rolling stock

• Background in a supervisory capacity.

• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
