Award summary

100% (Home) fees covered and a minimum tax-free annual living allowance £19, UKRI rate).

Overview

Healthcare decision-making is a complex and important process. It is relevant to have a tool that helps with accurate and crucial decisions based on clinical data. Each stage has a vital decision to be made depending on other stages' decisions. Thus, a clinical decision support system (CDSS) model based on a data mining approach becomes a leading solution.

Clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) have been recommended for their potential to reduce medical errors and influence the quality and safety of health care.

The PhD project will develop and design a medical platform to assist clinicians in their clinical reasoning in their treatment of Parkinson's disease. The system uses multi-modal data from multiple sources to support and enhance clinical decision making.

We invite applicants interested in: Decision Support, Machine Learning, Health, Wellbeing and Care, Human-Computer Interaction. We encourage a problem solving, analytical approach, and excitement to work in the intersection of Mathematics, Computing and Medical Sciences.

About us

The 'Brain and Movement (BAM) Research Group' are based at the Clinical Ageing Research Unit (CARU), a translational clinical research facility jointly run and managed by Newcastle University and Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and also at The Catalyst.
