About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Assistant/Associate to join our team at Newcastle University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in research and a passion for promoting mental health and wellbeing among postgraduate research students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a low-intensity support programme for postgraduate research students from racially minoritised groups.
  • Support and evaluate the programme to ensure its effectiveness and impact.
  • Develop training materials for university wellbeing practitioners and supervisors.
  • Attend strategic meetings to build links with key services and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of an efficient and effective data-collection process for outcomes of the support programme.
  • Ensure research governance processes are followed for all stages of evaluation.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of data collection methods and management.
  • Experience of activism/working within EDI and/or anti-racism initiatives.
  • Understanding of barriers to accessing doctoral level training for people from minoritized groups.
  • Experience of organising events, workshops or training sessions.
  • Experience producing or directing multimedia materials or educational training packages.

  • Ability to work well in an academic environment with a mix of independent, directed and team working.
  • Collaborative working style with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for promoting inclusion.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently.
Qualifications
  • Good honours degree with subject knowledge in the relevant area (psychology and clinical psychology).
  • Desirable: PhD in a relevant area or DClinPsy qualification.
