Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Senior Pharmacy Medicines Management Technician to join our Ambulatory Care Division. This position provides a unique chance to enhance your clinical knowledge and skills across various specialized areas, collaborating closely with the Rheumatology, Dermatology, Clinical Immunology & Allergy, and Ophthalmology outpatient services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in pharmacist-led drug allergy and adverse reaction clinics.
  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, professional, and effective medicine management services for elective surgical patients.
  • Assist the Specialist Dermatology, Immunology & Allergy Pharmacist and Rheumatology Clinical Pharmacist with outpatient clinical activities under their guidance.
  • Support robust medicines governance and facilitate drug challenge clinic provisions.
  • Manage medication at the ward level, including checking and assessing patients' own medications upon admission and discharge.
  • Deliver medicine management training to nursing staff within the division.
  • Participate in clinical audits, data collection, and departmental projects.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate initiative, and effectively manage their time to meet deadlines. A BTEC/NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent, along with registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, is required. Additionally, candidates should have experience in hospital pharmacy admission and discharge processes, as well as familiarity with computer labeling and stock control systems.

Work Environment

This role is structured as a full-time position (37.5 hours per week), although applications for part-time hours are welcomed. The pharmacy department is dynamic and innovative, consistently seeking to improve patient care through new methodologies.

Physical Requirements

The position may involve light physical effort, including prolonged periods of sitting while using IT equipment and standing for extended durations in dispensaries. Candidates should be prepared for a fluctuating workload and potential distractions in a busy environment.
