Role Summary: An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Senior Pharmacy Medicines Management Technician to join our Ambulatory Care Division. This position is designed to enhance your clinical expertise across various specialized areas, collaborating closely with Rheumatology, Dermatology, Clinical Immunology & Allergy, and Ophthalmology outpatient services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in pharmacist-led drug allergy and adverse reaction clinics.
  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team alongside specialized pharmacists, nursing, and medical personnel to deliver a high-quality medicines management service to elective surgical patients.
  • Engage in clinical activities under the guidance of the Specialist Dermatology, Immunology & Allergy Pharmacist and Rheumatology Clinical Pharmacist.
  • Facilitate robust medicines governance and support drug challenge clinic provisions.
  • Conduct medicine reconciliation and ensure seamless transitions of medication-related issues during admission, discharge, and transfer.
  • Manage medication at the ward level, including checking and assessing patients' own medications upon admission and discharge.
  • Deliver educational sessions on medicine management to nursing staff within the division.
  • Participate in departmental projects, clinical audits, and data collection.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, demonstrate initiative, and effectively manage time to meet deadlines. Previous hospital experience is advantageous but not mandatory, as comprehensive developmental support and training will be provided by our expert pharmacists.

Working Environment: The pharmacy department is thriving under new leadership, embracing innovative practices to ensure optimal patient care. The Ambulatory Care Division is responsible for delivering specialized services, including Clinical Allergy and Immunity, Dermatology, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, and Chronic Pain.

Expectations: The post holder will be expected to provide a professional and effective medicines management service, emphasizing meticulous drug histories, thorough patient counseling, and timely preparation of discharge prescriptions.

Physical Requirements: The role may involve light physical effort, with periods of standing in dispensaries and the need to manage unpredictable workloads in a busy environment.
