Role Overview:
As a Surgical Instrument Technician, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare system by ensuring the safe handling and processing of surgical instruments.

Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will encompass the following:

  • Safely collecting and managing potentially contaminated surgical tools prior to their decontamination.
  • Preparing, sterilizing, and ensuring the quality of surgical instruments and soft packs for distribution to operating rooms and various hospital departments.
  • Packaging instruments in accordance with established hospital protocols.
  • Conducting thorough inspections of all sterile packages for integrity after cooling, and managing any compromised packages for reprocessing.
  • Ensuring that all items processed through decontamination have a traceability label attached or available.
  • Performing quality assurance checks and ensuring all relevant documentation within the department is accurately completed.

Essential Skills:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • Demonstrable experience in sterile services.
  • A foundational level of education with proven literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Effective communication abilities, both verbal and written, along with basic computer skills.
  • A keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • The capability to perform manual handling tasks up to 13kg.
