Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled pharmacy technician with a strong background in medicines management to become a vital part of the Specialist Medicine team at Barts Health. The successful candidate will primarily operate within the Royal London Hospital, with responsibilities extending to other affiliated hospitals.

Your role will involve collaborating with the Royal London Pharmacy department and the Specialist Medicine Division to ensure the delivery of exceptional pharmaceutical care to patients. This includes the efficient and safe distribution of medications, staff training, governance, and financial oversight related to medicines.

Main Responsibilities

Assist the Specialist Medicine Team (including Rheumatology, Dermatology, and Gastroenterology) in providing excellent pharmaceutical care for patients. Your duties will encompass:

  • Ensuring the safe and effective supply of medications.
  • Conducting technical reviews and monitoring of medications.
  • Engaging in direct patient interactions.
  • Liaising with home care providers.
  • Generating financial reports related to medicines.

Education & Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, or equivalent.
  • Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.

Desirable Criteria

  • HEE LaSE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Post-qualification experience in a hospital environment.
  • Experience in staff education and training.
  • Proficiency in dispensing and pharmacy labelling.
  • Experience with outpatient/day case medicines management services.
  • Patient counselling experience.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with medications used in Specialist Medicine.
  • Evidence of successful design and implementation of new supply processes.
  • Experience in staff management.
