About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bid Manager to join our team at Leonardo. As a key member of our International Campaigns Department, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the preparation and timely submission of complex bids and proposals to maximize order intake for our company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage proposals from commencement to contract award, ensuring that bid submissions are commercially viable and minimize risk exposure.
  • Forecast and budget for functional resource requirements, maintaining active oversight of the bid budget.
  • Confidently escalate or manage priorities and potential conflicts in a timely manner to avoid deviation from the bid schedule.
  • Liaise with Heads of Region and Campaign Managers to oversee and manage the creation of all bid deliverables, working with the Bid Editing Team to ensure high-quality bid submissions.
  • Manage technical and price compliance of bid submissions.
  • Manage individually and collectively packages of technical and commercial work for proposals and bidding activity, completing tasks within given deadlines.
  • Liaise with AW sites and other functional departments for input requirements.
  • Prepare and present concise and informative briefing and approval papers for Senior Leadership Team.
  • Support Campaign Manager and wider Leonardo team with customer negotiations as required and provide a handover to contract administration and programme management.
  • Support the Head of Bids & Proposals UK in establishing and improving processes.
  • Review and understand the risk associated with the bid and liaise with functions on mitigation action.
Requirements
  • Experience in Bid or Project Management discipline.
  • Excellent use of International English and English grammar.
  • Pro-active, able to work using own initiative and within a team to achieve deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) with other functional departments.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Flexible to meet demands of the bids.
  • Confidently communicate bid progress to Head of Bids & Proposals UK and the Divisional Senior Leadership Team.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-functional and multi-cultural teams.
  • Knowledge of other languages useful, particularly Italian.
  • Ability to ensure Campaign Win Themes are clearly identifiable to the customer.
  • Ability to build an effective professional network both virtually and in person.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience managing successful bids with inputs and stakeholders from a multi-cultural environment.
  • Defence aerospace industry experience.
  • APMP / APM Certification.
