Crime Victim Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Crime Victim Support Specialist to join our team in North Yorkshire.

As a Crime Victim Support Specialist, you will work directly with adults and children who have been impacted by crime, assessing support needs and completing risk assessments, providing immediate and ongoing support and advocacy, including home visits.

You will provide information to the victim about their rights as outlined in the Victim's Code of Practice, explain processes, and act as a single point of contact throughout the victim's journey in the criminal justice system.

You will develop relationships with other organizations who support victims of crime, and work across teams and with external agencies to achieve goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess support needs and complete risk assessments for victims of crime
  • Provide immediate and ongoing support and advocacy, including home visits
  • Provide information to victims about their rights and explain processes
  • Act as a single point of contact throughout the victim's journey in the criminal justice system
  • Develop relationships with other organizations who support victims of crime

Requirements:

  • Self-starter with good organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communicator
  • Ability to work across teams and with external agencies to achieve goals
  • Comfortable working in a digital environment and able to use a range of IT equipment and programs
  • Understanding of crime and its impact on individuals and communities
