Job Overview

This position is crucial for engaging clinical managers in a multifaceted, specialized environment to collaboratively achieve annual business planning goals. You will ensure adequate capacity and capability to meet both local and national priorities while supporting the organization in advancing research and private care initiatives. The successful candidate will also play a vital role in identifying new strategic opportunities and innovative service delivery models across our network.

Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities

The Cancer Services division operates through three Clinical Business Units (CBUs):

  • CBU1: Specializing in Breast, Plastics, Lung, and Acute Oncology Services, alongside partnerships in thoracic care and home care services.
  • CBU2: Focused on Haematology, Head & Neck, Neuro-oncology, and pediatric services, leading ambulatory and ward areas.
  • CBU3: Concentrating on Gastrointestinal, Gynaecological, and Urological services, managing solid tumor wards across our facilities.

The post holder will work alongside the existing leadership team, overseeing CBU1 and contributing to strategic divisional initiatives while leading organization-wide projects.

  • Recognized management qualification, such as a Master's degree, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Proven experience navigating NHS Finance processes and systems.
  • Project management qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience.

  • Extensive experience in managing or leading a service or team.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in staff management.
  • Experience in staff appraisal and development.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting to senior management.
  • Proven experience managing complex change initiatives.
  • Understanding of confidentiality issues.
  • Awareness of Equal Opportunities issues.
