About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Learning Support Assistant to join our Student Support and Engagement Team. As a key member of the team, you will provide a high-quality, proactive learning support service for students with special educational needs and disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical access, simple adaptations, and note-taking support to students
  • Work with curriculum teams to ensure that all learners receiving support have opportunities to achieve and exceed their potential
  • Develop independence skills and provide equal opportunities for progress into further study, employment, and/or positive community engagement
  • Keep accurate records, monitor, and track individual support details and progress
  • Attend to personal care needs, be involved in moving and handling, and the administration of medication (after receipt of appropriate training)

Requirements:

  • Experience, knowledge, and understanding of barriers and issues faced by students with special educational needs and disabilities, together with strategies to overcome these
  • Experience of working in an education or care setting with young people with learning difficulties, disabilities, and complex and physical needs (an advantage)
