Resuscitation Service Lead

Oxford, United Kingdom Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you a leader in Resuscitation practice and education and keen to drive continuing improvement for resuscitation practice, education and governance? If you are ready to be responsible for the strategic and operational management of a well established service this is a great opportunity to lead an enthusiastic, positive and hard working team who are all committed to delivering the best possible patient care and support for colleagues.

To ensure an effective resuscitation service is provided for all patients across all Trust sites.

Provide leadership to ensure systems and processes for resuscitation care and education are robust and continue to evolve and improve.

Lead the department team and guide and support their continuing professional development.

Ensure an evidence based and quality improvement approach across all spheres of the department's activity.

The Trust's Resuscitation Service covers the four hospital sites with a team of Resuscitation Practitioners and clinical and admin support staff. We are a small but strong and highly motivated group who together have many years of experience caring for acutely ill and deteriorating patients and supporting colleagues through our clinical involvement, education and by always working to improve systems for the benefit of our patients and colleagues.

We have bases on each of the hospital sites. The site based practitioners have built excellent relationships with the clinical services on their sites and are strongly committed to supporting their local colleagues whilst working as part of the wider department team to provide education and Trust wide resuscitation activities and projects. The team work very closely together and care for each other as individuals and colleagues.

To have overall responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the Resuscitation Service in its objective to provide evidence based, patient centred, high quality care. The postholder will ensure continued development of clinical excellence within resuscitation practice across all Trust sites and divisions: demonstrating leadership in clinical practice, operational support, governance, education, audit and research for resuscitation. The postholder will contribute to the body of resuscitation knowledge and practice at a local, national, and international level.

Main responsibilities

Ensure that an effective resuscitation service is provided for patients on all sites with robust systems and processes.

Be responsible for Trust-wide policy development and implementation, formulating and updating relevant policies for consideration and approval.

Take overall responsibility for the management of all departmental staff.

Be responsible and accountable for the management of all budgets relating to the Resuscitation Service.

Enable and support the service’s initiation and/or participation in research and audit projects that contribute to the body of evidence on resuscitation.

Oversee the provision and future development of accredited courses and ‘in-house’ training in the Trust and have overall responsibility for the planning and development of an educational strategy.

Provide Trust wide leadership for quality, safety and governance issues relating to resuscitation.

See job description for full list and detail of responsibilities.
