**Job Title**: Investigation Officer
**Location of work**: Hybrid Working with Reigate Town Hall being main place of work - will be required to work at other locations when required for the role.
**Salary**: £34,944- £40,902 depending on experience

**About the Role of Investigation Officer**

The Fraud and Financial Investigations team at Reigate & Banstead are an award-winning team with a passion for preventing and detecting Fraud within the Public Sector. The team have various contracts for other Local Authorities and Public Sector organisations providing a robust approach to ensure all levels of fraud within an organisation are addressed.

The Investigation Officer role offers investigation support to the Senior Investigation Officers by holding a caseload of around 40 cases and completing a thorough investigation in line with CPIA 1996. It is a key role to ensuring the robust approach is met and individual needs of an organisation are considered so that any approach is tailored to the risks identified within each organisation.

**About the Person we are looking for**

You will:

- Undertake work in a range of activities requiring high-level technical expertise in addition to the core function(s) of the role. These activities will require a good high-level knowledge and skill as a Fraud Investigation specialist.
- Currently hold a Government Counter Fraud Profession (GCFP) qualification or have a qualification recognised by the GCFP which can be converted.
- Display a good working knowledge of relevant legislation such as CPIA 1996, POCA 2002, HRA 2008, RIPA 2012, PACE 1984 and PoSHFA 2013.
- Be competent in how to conduct an interview under Caution as a lead officer and the relevant codes of practice within the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE).
- Have experience of managing own case load and able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a busy team, and able to demonstrate prioritization of work.
- Investigate allegations of fraud using a variety of investigative techniques.
- Maintain written and computerised Systems, updating spreadsheets & databases associated with the Fraud & Financial Investigation Team.
- Prepare prosecution files, give evidence in cases taken to court under Fraud Act 2006, PoSHFA 2013 (to name just a few), and represent the authority at Court Hearings and act as Disclosure Officer where required.
- Work on joint investigations with officers from the Police, Department of Work and Pensions and Inland Revenue, NHS, and other enforcement bodies.
- Assist SIO’s in arrests involving searches, interviewing witnesses and suspects leading to arrests.
- Assist on covert surveillance operations when required.
