**Investigating Officer Level 2 Domestic Abuse Team - Temp Role - Reigate**

We are recruiting for an Investigating Officer to work for a large law enforcement organisation covering Surrey. There are multiple positions with various locations across the region. This contract will be temp.

The main responsibility of working as part of the Domestic Abuse Team (DAT) is to undertake necessary enquiries including, but not limited to, statement taking, exhibit handling, witness and victim contact and undertaking prisoner processing through interviewand initial file preparation and submission.

Another responsibility will be to prepare court files in respect of early first hearings (expedited files) and early administrative hearings (remand files), and to prepare internal files in respect of those offenders for out of court disposal.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To maintain a workload allocated upon PIP level. To also assist the team with other criminal investigations and any subsequent arrest of any suspects. To ensure a high standard of case building.
- To prepare and conduct formal interviews under caution in accordance with the provisions of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE), with persons held in police detention. To ensure that concise and accurate statements are recorded, meet the requiredevidential quality standards, and comply with guidelines laid down by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)
- Where appropriate, complete house-to-house enquiries, property related enquiries and the taking of fingerprints for elimination purposes.
- Assist with searches following the arrest of an individual and, where appropriate, seize and retain evidential property or other items.
- To process and document prisoners, where appropriate and in accordance with the legislation on consent of the detainees, secure DNA samples, record and transmit fingerprints, and photograph. To ensure that the evidence is gathered and complies with theprovisions of PACE and court procedures.
- To secure and preserve the continuity of evidence and exhibits. To ensure that evidence is gathered and complies with PACE and force procedures.
- To ensure that such data is complete and transmitted within the agreed timescales.
- To prepare and submit prosecution files for presentation to the CPS or Court to the required Manual of Guidance standard (quality and timeliness) to assist with the prosecution of offenders.
- As required attend court and give evidence in relation to those aspects of any investigation which are within the post-holder's personal knowledge or in which the postholder has had any involvement during the investigation process.
- To actively seek intelligence through interview technique in support of operational proactivity in the identification and targeting of known offenders or crime trends.
- To make accurate and timely submissions of actionable intelligence via the force intelligence systems.
- Subject to the required training and prevailing operational conditions in custody, to assist with the taking of digital images for the purposes of assisting identification procedures in relation to detained person, and to assist in the administration ofthese procedures as required.
- To process and deliver disclosures within the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme.
- To provide high quality victim and witness contact in accordance with the Victims' Code.

- Proven experience in investigation matters and of conducting interviews to a high standard.
- A working knowledge of criminal law and of the criminal justice system
- The ability to communicate professionally and with empathy.
- Ability to operate a computer database system and/or willingness to undertake training.
- The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- A methodical approach to work.
- The ability to work effectively unsupervised and as part of a team.
- A full valid driving license for motor cars.
