The Role

You will support the delivery of the University’s Student Recruitment and Internationalisation Strategies by providing team leadership for the Admissions Team.

Within the role you will also liaise with internal stakeholders at all stages of the applicant journey, such as recruitment, international office, and accommodation service to support conversion and the achievement of recruitment targets.

You will be results orientated with excellent attention to detail and time management skills. You will have excellent communication and stakeholder engagement ability with experience of working collaboratively. you will have administration or operations management experience from a large/complex organisation. Knowledge of Higher Education in an admissions or university context is desirable.

Key Accountabilities

Overseeing the delivery of the work of staff, including line management and supervision of staff and managing workload allocations in line with priorities and targets for the provision of high quality operational support to student recruitment and admissions functions

Responsible for the effective and efficient day to day running of the service through a collaborative team approach, providing advice, guidance and training to colleagues as required

Developing, implementing and maintaining excellent operational systems and processes for student recruitment, admissions and applicant conversion. Ensuring compliance with policy and procedures

Contributing to ongoing business initiatives in support of continuous improvement in process and policy

Developing and managing effective working relationships with prospective students, recruitment partners and other external stakeholders; and with colleagues across recruitment, admissions, academic units and Professional Services

Communicating with prospective students and their representatives, providing prompt and accurate information, advice and admissions decisions, and delivering an excellent customer experience

Developing an expert knowledge and understanding of prospective students, the widening participation agenda, recruitment partners, and higher education systems

Provide assistance to, and cover for, other areas of Student and Academic Services and the International Office as required

Other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required

The Person

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Experience of working in a busy, high volume, customer orientated environment

Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and integrity. Works calmly, efficiently and accurately under pressure and to strict deadlines

Excellent IT skills and the ability to work with a range of digital systems. Experience of using large databases to maintain records, extract information and produce documents and reports. An aptitude for development/production of management information reports using core software and data systems

Excellent organisational and administrative skills and the ability to develop and manage operational processes

Ability to provide expert advice, support and training to staff and stakeholders

Operational knowledge of service/systems/processes supporting student recruitment, international engagement, admissions or related area in the HE sector or a comparable business environment

Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external working relationships, to deal with customers who may be upset, assertive etc, and to work in a confidential and discrete manner

Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including listening, negotiating and influencing whilst interacting with a wide range of stakeholders on processes, procedures and relevant regulatory matters. The ability to relate to, and interact with, persons with diverse cultural backgrounds

Experience of supervising staff would be desirable

Attributes and Behaviour

Experience of working independently, on own initiative, prioritise workload of self and a team, and to adapt to change

**Qualifications**:
Educated to a Level 4 award/HNC or equivalent or an appropriate combination of relevant qualifications and demonstrable transferrable experience
