**Salary**: £38,474 to £52,841 per annum

The Role

This role sits within the School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (BNS), part of our Faculty of Medical Sciences who deliver world leading innovation and excellence in teaching and research.

We have a vacancy for a Lecturer in Dietetics and Human Nutrition to deliver teaching, assessment and student support for the undergraduate Dietetic and Nutrition programmes in the Faculty of Medical Sciences. You will be expected to contribute to curriculum development, research, and the wider academic, scholarly and professional requirements of the School and Faculty. We are particularly interested to hear from individuals with clinical research experience.

You will join an enthusiastic and vibrant group of educationalists and researchers at an exciting time of expansion of nutrition and dietetic undergraduate teaching at Newcastle University. Our programmes include MDiet Dietetics, BSc Human Nutrition, and BSc Nutrition with Food Marketing.

This post is part time 0.5 FTE.

Applicants must currently hold HCPC registration as a Dietitian.

Key Accountabilities Design and deliver high quality teaching and learning material, resources and activities as part of a team. This should be carried out within external, professional or accreditation requirements
Set, mark and assess course work and examinations, providing timely and effective feedback to students Ensure that current research, scholarship and evaluation is informing teaching and assessment practice Supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate research projects in nutrition and dietetics and related disciplines Provide timely mentoring, academic guidance and pastoral support to students to enhance their learning experience Undertake administrative duties related to the degree programmes and modules as appropriate to role Engage in research activities, teaching innovation and/or other professional activities for the benefit of the University and the discipline

The Person

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Knowledge, ability and expertise to teach dietetics, nutrition and other related topics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level
Awareness of current issues and trends in Dietetics and Human Nutrition with wide-ranging knowledge and experience in clinical and/or community dietetics
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to contribute to recruitment activities for the degree programmes
Experience of working independently and cohesively within a team and contributing enthusiastically to the team goals
Ability to work with placement providers to develop and support student work experience placements
Experience of providing pastoral support to students
Ability to supervise Masters level research projects
Desirable
Experience of supervising student research projects in the area
A good quality publication record for the discipline, with peer reviewed publications at international level
Experience of coordinating and leading modules or courses in higher education

**Qualifications**:
Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics
Health and Care Professions Council registration in Dietetics
Desirable
PhD and/or educated to Masters level or equivalent
Recognised Postgraduate teaching qualification
Basic Food Hygiene certificate
