The Role

The Student Recruitment and Marketing Team in the Faculty of Medical Sciences are the driving force behind recruiting high quality students from diverse backgrounds onto our range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. We are committed to the professional career development of all our colleagues. You will also support the progression of students from international backgrounds through the INTO foundation pathways onto programmes in the Faculty and support the Faculty’s input to the PARNTERS supported entry scheme.

The post is part time (60% FTE) and is fixed term until 31st December 2026.

Key Accountabilities
Plan, develop and deliver the Sutton Trust Pathways to Medicine (PtM) Scheme, a supported entry route onto Newcastle University Medicine degree programmes for those from under-represented backgrounds

**This will include**:
Working with the Sutton Trust and other PtM Universities to develop an engaging programme of on-campus and virtual events for Sutton Trust Students
Identifying and recruiting Pathway to Medicine students from North East and Cumbria regions
Recruiting and Training current students as Mentors to work on the PtM scheme.
Planning and delivering the PtM residential summer school and joint activities with other PtM universities
Working with academic school colleagues, to engage them with supporting the PtM Students
Oversee online mentoring via the Brightside Platform
Day to day oversight of budget for the PtM Scheme
Contribution to the ongoing evaluation of the project and activities, and the monitoring and tracking of individual students in order to evaluate the impact of events and gauge their appropriateness, effectiveness and impact for the target audience/s. Prepare relevant evaluation reports for managers about the activities undertaken to ensure continuous improvement of activity
Support the recruitment, progression and enrichment programme for INTO students on progression routes to Medicine and Dentistry

**This will include**:
Act as a liaison between the Faculty Academic Schools and INTO and the International Office to ensure join up and consistency of communication
Create a CRM plan for the students on the pathways to increase engagement with the Faculty
Organise and evaluate a series of enrichment and support activities, such as interview preparation, to encourage conversion of pathway students onto Medicine and Dentistry degree programmes
Support the delivery of activity for other supported entry route students including PARTNERS and Realising Opportunities
Support the representation of the University at a range of Higher Education recruitment events throughout the UK including large undergraduate Higher Education conventions, smaller recruitment and careers events in individual schools and colleges, and other recruitment events as may be identified during the course of the year

Proven ability to plan and organise intensive, complex, student-focussed events or projects, including evaluation of effectiveness/impact
Experience of working with and enthusing young people about Higher Education
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle difficult and often sensitive situations
Excellent presentation skills
Excellent time-management and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage a complex workload and work independently on projects
