The Role
We are seeking to recruit an experienced and motivated researcher with a background in quantitative research and who is interested in working on projects related to healthy ageing and also on understanding the impact of climate change on older people.
A proven track record in epidemiological research focusing on ageing, the lifecourse or climate epidemiology would be advantageous.
This post is fixed term for a period of 24 Months.

Key Accountabilities
- To work with Professor Matthew Prina and colleagues within the Population Health Institute to develop and deliver a range of projects around healthy ageing, lifecourse epidemiology and climate change epidemiology
- To carry out research within agreed timelines, meeting project milestones and to a high standard
- To support evidence synthesis papers and projects
- To prepare papers for publication, and disseminate findings at conferences as required
- To attend meetings and other events appropriate to the projects
- To identify and undertake a programme of professional development, including relevant further training in additional research methods and other transferable skills
- To carry out administrative tasks and other duties to support healthy ageing and or climate epidemiology within the Institute as required, including supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects
- May be involved in the supervision, with guidance, of final year undergraduate research projects and in providing support to postgraduate research students or Research Assistants
- Will need to work with the support staff and, on occasions, with undergraduate and postgraduate students, and interact intellectually with other academic members of the Institute
- Develop an awareness of University structures, policies and procedures and relevant issues in the higher education, research, social and political environment
The Person (Essential)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of epidemiological study designs, including current developments within the field
- Experience of conducting evidence synthesis
- Advanced analytical skills and competence with statistical packages, such as R, STATA, or MPLUS
- Proven organisational skills, including in working with patients and healthcare professionals
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- Potential for independent research leadership
- Evidence of successfully writing for peer reviewed publications, understanding the publication process
Desirable
- Experience of spatial analysis and of GIS software
- Proven interest in global health topics and projects
- Previous experience of working on projects related to ageing
