This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a research team at Newcastle University as a research assistant/associate on a qualitative project around dementia risk prediction. There is also a member of the public (Ms. Lindsey Brown) on the research team. The project also has a dedicated patient and public advisory group to assist throughout the study.

The project is a qualitative study - “Dementia Risk Prediction in Areas of Social Deprivation: Views of Key Stakeholders” - and will involve interviewing patients recruited from primary care and also primary care staff. This study is funded by a National Institute for Health and Care Research Three Schools Dementia Research Programme grant.

As the lead institution for this study, the role will require you to lead on the recruitment, data collection and analysis around an important topic in dementia research. Dementia risk prediction is an expanding and evolving area but it is important that we obtain the views of those who will either use a risk prediction tool or who will be affected by the outcome. We are also interested in how social deprivation may influence the needs of individuals in this area.

The postholder will be expected to work to tight deadlines and manage their time well in order to meet the study milestones. The postholder will be guided and supported in this project by Dr. Eugene Tang (Newcastle University) and Dr. Rebecca Morris (Manchester University).

This post is a part time (0.80 WTE) fixed term till 31st March 2024. The successful applicant will be appointed on a suitable point on the common payscale for research assistants/associates based on their experience and qualifications.
