Role Purpose:
Capital Financing and Investment Banking Coverage (CFIBC) is a division of Global Banking comprising of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Strategic Equity Finance (SEF), Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Strategic Solutions Group (SSG), Leveraged & Acquisition Finance (LAF), Corporate Risk Solutions (CRS), Issuer Services (ISV) and Advisory & Investment Banking Coverage (AIBC).
CFIBC CCO is responsible for the implementation and operation of non-financial and a subset of financial risk across Global Banking.

Your responsibilities will include:
1. Strategy execution
- Drive collaboration initiatives with selected Global Businesses, notably CMB ensuring good conduct outcomes for customers and consistent policy whilst upholding information barriers and the need to know principal essential to protecting Global Banking customer information.
- Ensuring that CFIBC Bankers are adequately trained on key elements of the Operational Risk Framework (in the capacity of Risk Owner), in order to demonstrate internal and external (regulatory) management accountabilities and adherence to local management regimes e.g. Risk Colleges as an opportunity to reinforce key policies, identify emerging risks and the formulation of robust management action plans.

2. Leadership and engagement
- Supporting the CFIBC leadership in engaging with business heads, functional heads and other key stakeholders
- Represent CFIBC at key governance forums, meetings and events as required.
- Contribute to building a global community that exemplifies the culture and behaviours promoted by HSBC’s purpose, values and conduct pillars
- Cultivate a continuous improvement and innovative mind set and a targeted focus on cost of control e.g. system enforced process and control operation whilst removing reliance on people as the primary means of remediation.
- Legitimise and promote a speak-up culture across the business whilst cultivating and embedding strategic solutions.

3. Operational Risk and Conduct
- Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment regionally and across CFIBC to ensure good operational and financial management as well as compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, together with the early identification and effective resolution of issues that arise
- Support the Implementation of robust risk and control standards for Global Banking, inclusive of applicable, GB, MSS (where applicable) & Group policies and controls
- Oversee all first line of defense activities around Financial Crime Risk and Control, Conduct and Regulatory Compliance and Information Security whilst maintaining information barriers and the need to know principal.
- Engage with the first line stakeholders, second line risk stewards as well as third line audit function to align overall non-financial risk status for the business.
- Drive remediation of audit actions, regulatory issues and any other issues whether identified by management, CCO activities or Risk Steward reviews.
- Support the delivery of the Conduct Agenda within CFIBC regionally, working across the GB Chief Commercial and Control Office, Functions, Regions and Regulatory Compliance.
- Timely identification and reporting of NFR incidents Op Loss/gains, Near Misses and Timing events in accordance with NFR policy whilst ensuring that effective ‘read across’ processes are in place to prevent reoccurrence within Global Banking and other Lines of Business.
- Drive regional and global consistency in the Risk and control assessments (RCA)
