**The role**:
Working as part of the JIC Communications and Engagement team, the Communications Assistant will help the institute to clearly communicate its research and vision to a range of audiences. The post holder will support events, campaigns and activities in collaboration with colleagues across the institute and will also work closely with colleagues at The Sainsbury Laboratory to deliver joint projects and initiatives.

The Communications Assistant will support internal and external communications, and public and stakeholder events, working across teams to ensure these activities are professionally supported and delivered. The post holder will help to create engaging written and digital content, assist with events and support other communications activities at the John Innes Centre.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about communicating science and can confidently create written and digital content about our research, activities and events. The post holder will be able to talk and interact with a range of people at different levels both internally and externally and have an understanding of how and why organisations communicate.

The role supports in particular the Head of Communications and Engagement, the Head of Strategic Engagement, the Public Engagement Officer, and others in their work.

Previous experience working in an academic environment and interest in science or topics relevant to the work of the John Innes Centre would be advantageous but is not essential.
