An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Professional Standard Department to act as a Dedicated Appropriate Authority for the Legacy Case Investigation recently carried out by the Independent Office of Police Complaints (IOPC) on a temporary basis for a period of 12 months.

The Dedicated Appropriate Authority will be responsible for close examination of the reports received by the IOPC. They will ensure their accuracy, make comments and suggest any required amendments prior to returning to the IOPC for publication in their final report.

They will also be responsible for ensuring any lessons learned are identified and effectively communicating these to staff at all levels across the organisation. They will also ensure that any Policies or Procedural Instructions are updated, if applicable as a result of any lessons learned.

The Dedicated Appropriate Authority will ensure responses are returned within the timeframes set out by the IOPC.

**Skills and experience required**:

- Recent experience in the role of Delegated Appropriate Authority
- Experience of leading complex investigations in both criminal and misconduct arenas
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Experience in multi-agency investigations and liaising with external agencies
- Ability to critically analyse large amounts of information and ensure relevant information is changed or omitted when necessary
