"Green Jobs and Youth Voices" Project Administrator

The University of Cambridge has been convening a consortium of institutions with interests in Young People and Work since 2019. This relates to a broader programme of activity on Decent Work and Youth Livelihoods, which is based out of the Department of Geography, and includes work in a number of other University Departments and Faculties, especially Education and Sociology, as well as with members of the Cambridge Global Challenges Strategic Research Initiative.

This role is to coordinate the project "In search of green jobs: voices of (unheard) young people and their aspirations, barriers and negotiations with work". The objective of this project is to research the availability, attitudes, understandings, and possibilities for green job creation with and for young people. The project is supported as part of the University of Cambridge Mastercard Foundation Climate Resilience and Sustainability Collaborative.

The role will involve organisation of activities, fieldwork, website and meetings, and undertaking project reporting and publicity. The project is based in sub Saharan Africa (Ethiopia, Ghana, South Africa and Uganda), and involves a team consisting of the PI, two Co-PIs, one PDRA and collaborators in partner institutions (University of Cape Town, Addis Ababa University, Makerere University, University of Ghana, Restless Development and CAMFED).

The successful applicant should be educated to A Level standard or equivalent standard/NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of practical experience and have good IT skills in MS Office (word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint). They should have experience of administration coupled with outstanding organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly and supportively as part of a team, and be able to work without direct supervision and prioritise their own workload. Applicants should review the further particulars for information on all essential criteria. The post is part-time with a working week of 14.6 hours.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
