The role of Clinical Educator is a key component of the support provided to pre-registration students in clinical practice and staff from newly qualifies to experienced.

For learners, the post holder will be the main departmental link during clinical practice, providing a balance supervision and support while maintaining regular and varied clinical presence

The Clinical Educator will be also involved in staff training. This will be supporting staff achieve basic and advance relevant skills, emergency and mandatory local training, as well as support with the introduction and maintenance of medical devices training.

**The role of Clinical Educator regarding learners will involve**:

- To support the development of student (nurses/ODPs/Apprenticeships) during their clinical practice journey. This will involve ensuring clear processes are established to support their development and progress throughout the programme.
- Provide Student placements by organising learners: shifts/ allocations/ assessors/ supervisors Mentor/Preceptor accordingly with their learning needs during the provided office time.
- Facilitate spokes (in and out the trust) to achieve learners’ competencies
- Support SCE while leasing with the different training providers from School of Oncology to outside educational organisations
- Be proactive in bringing new ideas on how to increase placement capacity maintaining quality learning experience

**The role of Clinical Educator regarding staff will involve**:

- To help enforce the training compliance for the department staff working with the senior team to keep the database updated.
- To support the development of newly qualified staff through the preceptorship programmes in collaboration with trust lead
- Acquire and provide expert advice and training on appropriate aspects of medical devices across all areas of the department.

- Support staff to develop and maintain competence in agreed basic and advanced clinical skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
