DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Management and Leadership Collaborate with Nursing/AHP Leadership and Nursing/AHP staff at all levels, regarding clinical workflow to ensure successful implementation of technology that benefits patient care and achieves expected outcomes. Partner with Digital, Information Technology, Health Information Systems, medical and operational leaders to assess new informatics technology opportunities that impact/improve clinical documentation, workflow efficiency and patient safety. Provide leadership for Nurses/AHPs using informatics/technology, promoting the best professional standards in a technology field to support clinical practice. Lead upon operational activities identified in the project plan in order to manage and implement defined projects targets, notifying the project manager when issues or problems occur.

Use clinical knowledge, judgement and experience to determine how to configure and use clinical IT systems for Nurse/AHP processes, particularly where opinions differ on the best approach. Educate IT colleagues on healthcare operations and clinical processes to ensure that safe, patient-centric and user friendly systems are designed. Guide EPR and health IT systems design and implementation, evaluation and options from the nursing practice perspective. Collate and document feedback, issues and comments from users and managers and use the feedback and their professional judgement to develop processes and future system improvements.

Use clinical knowledge, judgement and experience to develop policies and procedures (and associated documentation) in relation to projects and for business as usual teams following implementation. Carry out audit work related to clinical informatics/digital systems. Assist other clinical leads in analysing new local, regional and national initiatives and imperatives, and other standards documents relevant to clinical informatics systems and identify responses to them. To share these proposals with senior staff in digital service and other key stakeholder groups.

Represent the Trust in networks relevant to clinical informatics/digital agenda at local, regional and or at a national level. To use these networks to share best practice and to bring information and new ideas back to the Trust team. Be an ambassador for Digital Services and the role of clinical informatics in the Trusts Modernisation agenda, in particular, when coming into contact with key senior stakeholder within the Trust, and with external agencies, organisations and official bodies. There may be a requirement for some occasional weekend, out of hours and on call work, particularly during the implementation phase of clinical IT projects.

Education and Training Deliver presentations, and demonstrate the product to all levels of clinical, administrative and managerial staff in a manner that is appropriate for the audience. Deliver one to one and classroom based training on clinical IT systems being implemented to staff of all levels including clinicians and management. Support the preparation of user guides and training materials and provide input into the structure of training sessions. Support the planning, developing, refining and evaluation of clinical documentation systems and training programs.

Ensure adherence to Clinical informatics project timelines, scope definitions and operational budgets. Clinical Professional Practice The jobholder will assist the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) Nursing & AHPs and the Lead Digital Clinical Implementer, working collaboratively with clinical colleagues to improve the implementation of clinical informatics across the Trust. Review practice, audit against agreed standards and liaise with nursing staff to ensure the relevant trust guidelines are applied across the Trust. Review clinical practice on wards and other departments with the Trust and to identify where practice goes outside safe limits and to lead any changes in practice which are needed in order to reduce a risk which has been identified.

To keep up-to-date with clinical practice and to demonstrate and maintain a commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Raise concerns with regards to risk, danger, malpractice or wrong doing by following the trust policy and supporting processes.
