**Job overview**:
The post-holder will work as part of the Beds & Chairs admin team to ensure the provision of a high quality, patient-focused service to specialties within NUH is provided. The Bookings Clerk Receptionist will play a pivotal role in ensuring appropriate administrative cover and support is provided for the Beds & Chairs departments across Queens Medical Centre and NHS Treatment Centre, which consist of Queen’s Day Case Unit, Medical Daycase Unit, Short Stay Unit and Phlebotomy. The post-holder will be primarily based in the Queen’s Day case Unit but is expected to provide support across the wider Beds & Chairs business unit when required.
**Main duties of the job**:
To receive incoming telephone calls from patients and clinicians in a courteous, confident, efficient and confidential manner.
Deal with telephone queries, transferring calls or taking messages as appropriate to the call
To provide efficient and effective administrative and clerical support to the Beds & Chairs directorate, covering Queen’s Day Case Unit, Surgical Short Stay Unit, Medical Daycase Unit & Trustwide Phlebotomy services, Clinicians and patients.
To receive telephone calls from patients who require information and to ensure that the patients messages are accurate and taken promptly in a courteous manner at all times
Undertake administration functions for the department, such as data input, photocopying, registering patients into the care of Single Point of Access, attach referrals and add to appropriate waiting lists, schedule subsequent TCIs, sending patient notes for scanning to Digital Health Records, admitting and discharging patients, completing outcome forms for patients upon discharge
Ability to take quality e-referrals from Health Care professionals.
To receive and distribute all incoming mail.
To ensure all outgoing mail is processed on a daily basis.
Undertake accurate recording/inputting and amending data within the PAS system
To fully comply with the policies, procedures and guidelines on confidentiality and codes of conduct.
To support and provide cover for colleagues, during annual leave and sickness when required.

The Beds & Chairs business unit sits within the Admitted Care Directorate within Ambulatory Care Division and consists of four areas which are split across the QMC campus and the Nottingham Treatment Centre.
Our areas consist of Queen's day case unit (QDCU), Medical day case unit (MDCU), Surgical Short Stay Unit (SSU) and Trustwide Phlebotomy.

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
