Community Mental Health Team Leader required in Norwich and surrounding areas

**Main purposes of job**
- Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture. This will include holding supervisions, team meetings, answering staff calls, creating platforms for staff to communicate and meet, etc. A Team Leader will need to be creative and innovative in doing this so that they can help create a space that is inspiring and friendly to work in, a space where support workers will feel that they count.
- Communicate clearly with support workers about what their role is and what they are required to do and when, setting reasonable goals and deadlines where necessary. A team leader will need to know current legislation, legal practices and best practice standards and protocols and communicate these appropriately. They should show a desire for their own professional development and undertake whatever training they need to better themselves so that they can communicate best practice effectively.
- Oversee day-to-day operation, ie answering calls from support workers when they need advice or help. Where the Team Leader is not sure about the answer to questions asked, they could liaise with her fellow team leaders or call the service manager for advice. Overseeing will also include seeking staff to cover when other staff members are ill or off on annual leave, etc. and being flexible enough to cover some shifts where there aren’t available staff to do so, etc. It will also include liaising with other professionals and commissioners, etc where applicable and necessary to ensure quality of service and multiagency collaboration. They will ensure the health and safety protocols are followed and appropriate inspections undertaken.
- Monitor team performance. This will include reading service user notes regularly to keep up to date with what staff are doing, undertaking spot checks every now and then, attending some visits with support workers to monitor how they work or to support them where they report complexity and need support or guidance, keeping up to date with service users and trying to get to know all of them by visiting them at some point, undertaking monthly supervisions with staff and, where necessary, weekly, ie with new staff members and if they have any concerns about any staff. Team Leaders to also organise Team Meetings at least once a month.
- Motivate team members. Seeking opportunities to do some activities together. keeping the enthusiasm going by providing individualised coaching when needed.
- Discover training needs and provide opportunities for professional development while also being aware of their own training needs and opportunities for professional development.
- Listen to team members’ and service users’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts
- Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments
- Encourage and guide creativity and positive risk-taking without putting service users or other staff or organisation at risk,

Other necessary skills include:

- Good Computer skills
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, ie leading by example
