Norwich, United Kingdom Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Perinatal Community Mental Health Team is a specialist service providing assessments and treatment to women and birthing people who are experiencing, or are at an increased risk of experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy and up until the child’s first birthday. We have three teams that cover Norfolk and Waveney.

We are looking to recruit a Mental Health Nurse or Mental Health Practitioner who has an interest in Perinatal Mental Health and the development of the service. The vacancy is for 12 months fixed term to cover maternity leave within the South/West patch. We can also consider a secondment opportunity.

Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable as is knowledge of Perinatal Mental Health Conditions and Safeguarding Policies and Procedures, however, it is not essential as training will be provided. A keen passion for working with women and their families is a must, as is the ability to work closely with a range of professionals from health visiting, maternity, Children’s Services and the Third Sector.

The Perinatal Community mental health team provides prevention, detection and management of mental health problems that complicate pregnancy and the postpartum year. The team won the NSFT ‘Team of the Year’ award in 2022 and will offer an exciting chance to be part of a critical service making a real difference to our communities.

The team offers therapeutic interventions, nursery nurse interventions, medication reviews, consultant appointments and advocacy through Peer Support. Your role will be key in ensuring consistency and continuity of care to our service users and working within the MDT to ensure the right care is delivered at the right time in the right place.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team including Consultants, Clinical Psychologists, Peer Support Workers, Nursery Nurses, Parent and Infant Therapists, Systemic Family Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Mental Health Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Assistant Practitioners, Social workers and Team Managers.

**You will be responsible for**:

Formulating an appropriate plan of care/ signposting to other services

Thinking about the parent infant relationship

Participating in the Duty rota

Ensuring all service users have a co-produced care plan and combined assessment

We are a cohesive, friendly, and kind team and will support you every step of the way.

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.

Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey.
