Our Norfolk and Waveney Wellbeing Service is currently in the top 10 highest performing services for client recovery nationally. We offer a variety of additional ‘champion’ roles within the core PWP role, such as LGBTQ+, Green light, Domestic Violence, Perinatal, Equality and Diversity, Staff wellbeing, as well as Long Term Conditions.
Our team of PWPs provide high volume, low intensity psychological self-management interventions which are based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and form Step 2 of the stepped care model, as recommended in NICE guidelines. The majority of the work is telephone based and computerised CBT. Delivery of online workshops and courses is also a key part of the role. Our PWP’s work closely with the step 3 team’s, as well as administration to enable a collaborative approach to care
**Main duties of the job**:
The post-holder will work within the Wellbeing Service, screening and assessing referrals to the service and providing high-volume, low-intensity psychological, self-management interventions. These interventions are evidence based, underpinned by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Delivered to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and/or
depression. The main method of delivery would be through telephone, video calling, webinars and online digital platforms. There is also some opportunity for face to face therapy on a one to one basis and in groups.
The post-holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. The service will be provided as part of a stepped care approach working alongside Cognitive Behavioural Therapists and Counsellors

The Wellbeing Service is part of the national IAPT programme, aimed at helping people across Norfolk and Waveney aged 16 and over, who are experiencing mild to moderately severe anxiety and depression. It is a well-established partnership between Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) and Norfolk and Waveney Mind. The role also involves assessing people with more severe and enduring difficulties, and referring them on to relevant services where appropriate.
**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
As a Qualified PWP, your clinical responsibilities will include accepting referrals via agreed protocols. You will assess and support people with common mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery by undertaking client-centred assessments that identify areas where the person wishes to see change and recovery. You will be required to make an accurate assessment of risk to self and others. This may include the risks surrounding suicide, self-harm, self-neglect, alcohol and substance misuse, safeguarding and domestic violence.
You will make decisions on suitable treatments and care pathway’s for new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, stepping-up the person’s treatment to high intensity psychological therapy. Referring clients to the relevant service or back to the referrer as appropriate. Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help computerised CBT, information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face-to-face, telephone or via other media.
