Preston, United Kingdom Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Do you have the drive and ambition to move patient pathways forward? In your role as a Patient Pathway Coordinator, you will be a key contributor to patients receiving care as quickly as possible. You will be joining a forward-thinking team that work well together in our vision to always provide excellent care with compassion to our patients and the clinical specialities we serve.

We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual who enjoys working in a challenging and busy environment to support the Head and Neck Speciality Business Unit. You will be part of a team helping to improve our patients experiences and reduce our waiting lists for treatment.

You will work across the Speciality Business Unit and contribute to the delivery of performance targets for services as appropriate. You will be a key link in ensuring that national 18 week Referral to Treatment (RTT) standards and the national cancer target standard are managed and coordinated effectively and deadlines are met.

It is important that we get the right person who can provide effective cover across the team, so we are looking for someone with the right behaviours, skills and willingness to learn.

You will be responsible for supporting the achievement of the 18-week RTT target and the national cancer targets (31 and 62 day), including taking appropriate actions to ensure that the targets are being met. You will assist in the effective collection and recording of the patient pathways across the Unit and support administrative issues relating to patients’ pathway of care, tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment and/or discharge. This will include discussions with key members of the team in order to deliver patient care within target timescales. You will be expected to produce weekly reports/updates for internal meetings on the 18-week and cancer target position. You are expected to actively monitor the 18-week risks, the cancer charts - including tertiary patients, any over 18-week patients, and giving regular updates of actions being taken.

Within the Head and Neck SBU, we provide care for cancer, urgent and routine patients in clinics and in theatres. This is a busy and varied role for someone with a passion for making a difference; no day is ever the same. We are known as being a friendly and supportive team. If you are dynamic and flexible in your approach, this role could be the one for you. You will make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold and help innovate to keep improving. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means your role is pivotal and something to be proud of.

At Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, we take pride in caring for our staff as well as our patients. We recognise that working in a busy environment requires help with a healthy work-life balance. We also believe in ensuring that our staff get the chance to reach their full potential when working with us, which is why we open lots of doors for career progression once you join our team. With us, the sky truly is the limit

We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area and give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire and Cumbria.

Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients and staff, ensuring we keep thriving and delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.

You will have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet inspiring people and do things you’d never have done.

You will make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold and help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care and enhancing their experience which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
