Initially, your focus will be on supporting the HR Advisor for our Clinical Co-ordination Centres across 4 different sites. You will be providing advice on employee relations issues, supporting attendance at work and working with our leaders to determine the most appropriate people focused solutions in accordance with SCAS values and our cultural shift towards a Just and Learning Culture.

We are looking for someone who is part CIPD qualified and with some experience of working in a HR role. You will need to be able to use your initiative and work independently, under the supervision of the HR Adviser, whilst maintaining contact with a dispersed and mobile team. You should have excellent inter-personal skills, be highly motivated and pro-active and an aptitude for remaining calm and considerate when under pressure.

The role covers sites from Milton Keynes to Winchester. However, your base is negotiable and hybrid working arrangements are also possible, although travel to sites will be required as and when required. Consideration will be given to flexible working.

About Us

South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of emergency, urgent care and non-emergency healthcare services, along with commercial logistics services.

The Trust delivers most of these services to the populations of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire as well as non-emergency patient transport services in Surrey and Sussex.

We serve a population of over 7 million and answer over 500,000 urgent calls a year. We employ 4,551 staff who, together with over 1,100 volunteers, enable us to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Provide advice, guidance and support to Directors, Managers and staff
on all aspects of HR policies generally, ensuring an objective,
professional and confidential service. Thus, ensuring that staff carry
out their duties in accordance with Trust policy, standing orders and
service instruction and to defined standards of conduct, performance
and attendance. Where necessary providing appropriate advice,
guidance and recommend the appropriate steps to correct any staff
deficiencies in line with appropriate policies, procedures and
employment legislation.

Advise and support managers on the identification and handling of
issues relating to poor performance and capability and in dealing with
capability, disciplinary, and grievance investigations, to ensure that
such investigations are conducted fairly and equitably. Attend meetings
as necessary.

Advise and support managers on the implementation of the Trusts
grievance and dignity at work procedure.

Support managers in the control of sickness absence and in ill-health
reviews in collaboration with the Occupational Health Department and
in line with the Trust’s sickness management policies. This may
include making reasonable adjustments, seeking suitable alternative
employment or making proposals to terminate employment on health
grounds.

Attend & participate in selection interviews and assessment days
ensuring that professional advice is provided and that objective and fair
selection takes place, taking proactive steps to address/avoid any
potential direct/indirect discrimination during the recruitment process.
Assistant HR Advisor

Organise and conduct exit interviews and submit quarterly reports on
findings to the Trusts Senior Management Team advising on trends
and recommending corrective action as necessary.

Provide objective, confidential and professional welfare and support
service to all staff when needed.

Provide advice to managers and staff on terms and conditions of
service, liaising closely with payroll and workforce teams.

Support good employee relations by communicating with and involving
staff side as appropriate and maintaining contact with key managers to
enable a more proactive approach to HR support.

Support the Agenda for Change process as a trained
analyser/matcher/evaluator.
