**ROLEOVERVIEW**

We are looking to recruit a policy advisor to join ourpassionate and dedicated policy and knowledge team.

The role of policy advisor is critical in developing theChambers position as a credible voice on behalf of businesses in North EastEngland.

A key aspect of this role is to support the Chamberspolicy team to deliver insight, analysis and campaigns in line our StrongerFairer North East strategy.

**WHATYOULL BE DOING**
- Lead on education, employment and skills policy in line with the Chambers Stronger Fairer North East strategy.
- Organise and deliver the Chambers forums on education, employment and skills and digital to engage members in these sectors.
- Work with the knowledge and research executive to deliver our future leaders forum to engage young professionals in the region.
- Lead on the Chambers reaction to employment and trade statistics.
- Lead policy-led PR and media opportunities to maximise the Chambers influence.
- Develop the Chambers relationship with key stakeholders in the region and represent the Chamber at stakeholder events.
- Working with the Chambers Events team, organise and deliver events to engage members with Chamber campaigns such as our linking business with education event.
- Support Chamber Relationship Managers in resolving representation queries throughout the year.
- Presenting at events to provide updates on policy activity and to gather feedback.
- Regular meetings with the Chambers international trade team to establish the Chambers policy position on trade policy and to help shape the direction of the international trade forum.
- Respond to emerging policy issues and formulate the Chambers position on them.
- Provide regular updates for members via the Chambers website publications and social media.
- Produce briefings for members to inform them of important policy developments and the Chambers position on these issues.
- Liaise with the British Chambers of Commerce on the impact of national policy in the North East.
- Attend Chamber committees and events to engage with members.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Math and English.
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional or voluntary experience.

- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload to achieve agreed deadline and targets.
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
- Ability to create, maintain and promote good working relationships.
- Evidence of creative thinking and the ability to work under your own initiative.
- Customer orientated & focused.

- Attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and analyse complex information from a range of sources and design plans of activity in response.
- Interest in current affairs.
- Knowledge of an area of business-related policy an advantage.

**Other requirements**
- Must be able to work flexible hours, and locations across the region.
- A sense of drive, enthusiasm, hard working and reliable.
- Some travel needed across the North East but do not need access to a car.
