**Position Title**: Legal Editorial Associate

**Role Purpose/ Summary**: The role will primarily comprise: creating versions of online articles for updating purposes for the international content team; liaising with authors in relation to those updates; working with external editors and the editorial and commissioning teams in that respect; proofreading, sub-editing and managing the online publication of articles; management of the online publishing system; updating of progress charts; and ancillary editorial tasks. The legal editorial associate will assist the editorial team by dealing with author queries, setting deadlines for contributing authors, and all other editorial support roles. They will also assist in the technical legal editing of legal know-how articles and the proofing of legal-know how articles and books. Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Responsible for preparing for online publication the updated versions of legal know-how articles from the international content team, on a range of topics, which promote the knowledge and expertise of the contributing lawyers.

Liaising with the authors of those articles in relation to their updated copy.

Providing proofreading, sub-editing (depending on performance) and other administrative support to the global guides editorial team.

The editorial associate will be expected to learn house style and, depending on performance, impose house style strictly on publications.

Working with general editors on titles (where applicable) to ensure that the general editor is fully up-to-date on the project, and in relation to template/contributions.

Working closely with the lead editor of guides to update them as to progress.

Sending out publication updates to authors.

Working with the international content team (in particular the Global Guides and cross-border resource centre), to ensure that materials are published in accordance with the schedule.

Proofreading and checking the accuracy of publications online and in print, including pdf versions of Q&As.

Using in-house electronic publishing packages to prepare articles for online and print publication, as well as being involved in the testing of new in-house publishing packages (where necessary).

Where required, assisting the editorial team in the technical legal editing of original legal know-how articles.

Checking and proof-reading the website, including guide and country pages.

Any other editorial and administrative support as required by the editorial team.

**Essential Skills and Experience Required**:
Technical skills

Good legal knowledge and excellent written English.

Fast and accurate keyboard skills. Interpersonal skills

To be able to follow instructions, but also possess the ability to work as part of a close knit team and be able to use own initiative. ? Be able to see other people's points of view and take on board feedback.
