Job Title: Accommodation Officer - Temporary

Responsible to: Homeless Prevention Lead Officer

Pay: £15 to £25 Per hour

Location: Hemel Hempstead

HR GO Recruitment are looking secure Temporary Accommodation, provide advice and assistance to households whilst in temporary accommodation and be the key contact officers regarding the Council's temporary accommodation. To ensure that government legislation is adhered to in respect of suitability of temporary accommodation when placing applicants and that best use is made of the Council's stock.

You will need to have a detailed understanding of these areas to ensure you are able to appropriately manage the stock. Liaise closely with Homeless Prevention, in addition to the allocations Team to ensure that demand is appropriately resourced, preventing unnecessary spend on Bed & Breakfast charges, negatively impacting on the Council's budgets. Ensure accurate monitoring of temporary accommodation charges and income to support the Lead Officer & Team Leader in effectively managing the budget.

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To be responsible for monitoring the contents and condition of temporary accommodation, including health and safety inspections, insurance (equipment and building), to retain a high standard of provision.
- Monitoring, testing and servicing of appliances and systems. Carrying out routinely inspections.
- Identifying and reporting, issues relating to disrepair, deliberate damage or neglect, pests and hoarding issues, kitchens, bathrooms, windows, doors, and gutters, garden, rubbish etc). Where an issue is ultimately and Health and Safety or Fire Risk, Officer to consider own actions to resolve immediately, such as the removal of rubbish.
- To be responsible for the management and use of Temporary Accommodation stock - ensuring best use of accommodation is used.
- Take enforcement action where necessary, including issuing warning, notices and attending court where required. Respond effectively and efficiently to complaints and enquiries in line with the policies and procedures.
- Liaise with relevant utility companies to ensure services are maintained to Temporary Accommodation and report any defects where necessary.

- You will be required to liaise closely with the Welfare and Sustainment Officers and Homeless Prevention Officers
- To be available on standby to attend accommodation, to enable resident to re-gain access or to assist emergency services or other Council Officers in gaining access.
- Organise and action the eviction process by attending Temporary Accommodation and enforcing notices upon expiry and carry out eviction.
- The processing and management of Electronic Payments.
- Ensuring correct budgetary codes are selected and this is uploaded within the timeframe outlined in the policy.
