Magdalen, United Kingdom Sefton Council Full time

The Travel Support Team administers and delivers the Home to School Travel Support Policy on behalf of the Council. This includes assessment, commissioning and delivery of travel solutions, and development of the policy. The Team is responsible for a framework with bus and taxi operators and also provides transport support for other Council Services including adult and children social services and schools.

The service applies to both adults and children, but the majority is related to Special Educational Need and Disability transport for children and young people. Our objective in relation to this service is to enable eligible children to get to school on time, safely and ready to learn; and in the longer term to learn life skills around independent travel.

As one of three Assistant Travel Support Officers in the team you will support the delivery of the service, including handling enquiries from the public, clients and contractors, processing requests for support and accurately recording case work activity according to policy and procedure. You will be working with internal and external partners in order to complete assessments of eligibility, need and the clients journey requirements. You will support the commissioning and delivery of the clients travel solution.

You will be working with young people across the borough to provide practical support to enable them to travel independently by public transport, walking or cycling.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people in professional and community settings.

You will have experience in collecting, recording, maintaining data and the ability to work independently and in an organised manner.
