Housing Officer

This is a fixed term, position required for 37 hours per week until December 2025.

The Housing Advice Team provides a statutory function to assess the housing circumstances of customers presenting to the Local Authority. This is in accordance with Part 2 Housing (Wales) Act 2014 and in line with the most recent Code of Guidance for Local Authorities on the Allocation of Accommodation and Homelessness March 2016.

You will be responsible for gathering and accurately recording all relevant information in respect of customer's circumstances in order to effectively meet housing needs.

As the successful applicant you will interview and advise persons at risk of homelessness or in housing need so that wherever possible homelessness is prevented and housing needs are adequately met. You will review homeless caseloads, secure and manage temporary accommodation for homeless cases, as well as assist with the transition from temporary accommodation to suitable move-on accommodation.

You will provide realistic information to customers regarding their eligibility for housing assistance and regarding alternative housing solutions and carry out statutory prevention and homelessness assessments under the Housing Wales Act 2014.

Ideal applicants will be educated to a degree level and/or hold a relevant housing qualification e.g. CIH Level 4.
