**Job overview**:
We are seeking experienced Clinical Support Workers who have demonstrated an interest and passion to develop themselves and their career, as well as an interest in the role of the Operating Department Practitioner, to undertake a 3 year apprenticeship training programme in conjunction with the University of Bolton and be paid as a Band 2 while undertaking this programme of study.

At Salford we currently have 23 clinical areas over two floors covering major complex Neurosurgical and Spinal Surgery, Renal access surgery, Pain Service, complex ENT procedures, Neuro X Ray including a 24 hour stroke service, MR Scan supporting scans for complex patients requiring general anaesthetic, General surgical procedures including upper and lower GI, gynaecology and urology, Orthopaedics, as well as two 24 hour emergency theatres.

In 2023, Salford Royal will be leading the way in providing life-saving care and treatment with the new £68 million Major Trauma Centre. This state-of-the-art building will have a floor dedicated to innovative surgery and will house five new emergency theatres, including the UK’s first hybrid trauma theatre.

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake this programme of study, and we need a committed individual who feels they are ready to undertake this programme and develop into a qualified Operating Department Practitioner and be part of the theatre team here as Salford to deliver the highest level of care to our patients.

**Main duties of the job**:
The post holder will contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care as part of the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will have the knowledge to interpret information and be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) to achieve the planned outcome. The post holder will contribute to the maintenance of a safe clinical environment. The post holder is expected to work within a wide variety of clinical environments.

The post holder will be expected to practice in accordance with Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) policies, guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within defined competency boundaries.

The post holder will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and demonstrate they can work as part of a team, have a high standard of organisational skills both clinically and when completing academic work.

The Post Holder will work within the operating Theatres as part of a multidisciplinary team.
