The Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Team in South Staffordshire are pleased to advertise this opportunity to recruit a Band 5 Mental Health Practitioner/Care Coordinator on a permanent contract to work within the ‘At Risk Mental State’ (ARMS) branch of the EIP service.

ARMS is a speciality within EIP that works with people across the county of South Staffordshire who are aged 14-35 and considered to have an ‘at risk mental state’ and may be vulnerable to experiencing their first episode of psychosis (FEP). As a relatively new development within EIP nationally, being part of ARMS is an exciting opportunity to work preventatively in mental health.

- To work as a member of the Early Intervention in Psychosis Service and support the organisation in effectively delivering Nice Concordant Early Intervention in Psychosis Service to all appropriate referrals.
- Providing specialist Early Intervention consultation/liaison and advice to colleagues.
- Contributing and undertaking specialist Early Intervention and profession specific assessments for those referred to the service with suspected psychosis and/or At Risk Mental State.
- To be responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the evidence-based interventions required, including health promotion for a named service user/group under the guidance of the team leader/senior practitioners
- Responsible for the appropriate clinical risk assessment of Early Intervention service users, contacting the “Out of Hours” services where required, providing effective advice, guidance and decision-making process culminating in the coordination of any reviewed plan of care under the supervision of the team leader/senior practitioners.
- Responsible for the organising admissions, case conference/reviews and discharge planning in collaboration with members of the multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of the team leader/ senior practitioners

The ARMS care team are a psychology-led multidisciplinary group that advocate for formulation led (rather than diagnosis led) interventions. This means the client is at the heart of what we do. The successful mental health practitioner will demonstrate the principles of recovery in their practice, working within a multi-disciplinary team to support and develop people’s strengths and positive qualities, ensuring care plans are respectful and meaningful to each client and reflect the individual experience of recovery.

The team provides input to people across South Staffordshire, working out of bases in Cannock, Stafford, Lichfield and Burton, as well as people’s homes, GP surgeries, other public settings, and occasionally inpatient settings. Therefore, the successful applicant must be able to travel across the geographical area.
