**Overview**

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this post will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day processing of financial ledgers and also involves financial support for our trading company Positive Steps Initiatives.

Previous experience in an accounts environment is essential as is the ability to work within a finance team with a high degree of accuracy, close attention to detail and good organisational skills.

**Key Functions**

**Purchase, Sales and Nominal Ledgers**
- Scrutiny and preparation of all relevant documents for input into Sage accounting systems.
- Payment of all invoices on due date, including preparation of BACS and other payments.
- Preparation of debtor invoices and monitoring and control of any outstanding debtors.
- Reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Preparation and input of Journal Entries required to update and maintain the Nominal Ledger.
- Management and reconciliation, on a quarterly basis, of ledger control balances to ensure integrity e.g. creditors, debtors etc.

**Rent Accounting**
- Responsibility for accurate and timely processing of a rent ledger including reconciliation on a monthly basis of all tenant records.
- Dealing with correspondence concerning Housing Benefit, Council Tax, Utilities etc.

**Assistance to the Finance Manager**
- Reconciliation and preparation of monthly/quarterly reports.
- Preparation of inter-company transactions.
- Processing of payroll and expense/mileage claims.
- Final accounts and external audit.
- Relevant reports for CEO and Board Meetings etc.
- Preparation of budget and month-end reporting.

**General**
- Management of Petty Cash.
- Assisting the Senior Management Team with other ad hoc finance or administrative functions as required.

We are a small organisation and in addition to the main duties within the Finance Department, this role also offers the post holder an opportunity for involvement with other departments by providing an ad-hoc administration backup to other departments.

**Salary**: £21,000.00 per year
