Youth Voice Officer

We have another exciting opportunity to join our expanding Youth Voice Team, working with children and young people who are refugees, asylum seekers or living in Dorset under resettlement pathways. This will be a part time role of 22.5hrs (3 days) for 2 years.
**What you can expect to be doing**:
- Working in a trauma informed way which respects and understands the journey, barriers and challenges that these children and young people may face, adjusting to their lives in the UK
- You will connect with children and young people as individuals and in groups.
- You will enable and empower them as you support them to develop their skills, in the ways that they need to learn.
- You will be creative in reaching those who’s voices are less heard.
- You will build relationships with commissioners and service managers across the council and with our key partners, ensuring work leads to measurable change.
- You will develop, co-ordinate and contribute to the delivery of youth voice across Dorset in creative and innovative ways.
- You will work in the spaces that our children and young people are comfortable in, to ear their trust.
- You will make sure that children and young people can meaningfully taking part in co-production activities, to influence strategic decision making and the progression of our Children, Young People and Families Plan.
We are a kind and welcoming team who focus on relational practice and meaningful engagement and participation. We are passionate about youth voice and co-production and have a proven track record of encouraging and supporting young people to take part, including those who are less likely to have their voices heard. We offer our colleagues and leaders appropriate challenge where necessary to ensure that young people’s views are listened to and acted upon.
Youth voice officers collaborate with each other on projects across the team, sharing their skill sets whilst also having the autonomy to lead in specific areas of work. The team use a wide range of techniques to reach children and young people and find solutions to the barriers they might face to being heard.
Your centre of duty will be County Hall in Dorchester. There will be a hybrid approach to your work, which supports working from home and in the office. You may also be working in different locations across the county according to your work.
Interviews will be held on **Thursday 4th July 2024**, at County Hall in Dorchester.
This is a part time role at 22.5 hours per week, fixed term for 2 years.
This post requires significant travel. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed.
