We have a new and exciting opportunity for a **Health and Safety Officer** who will be responsible for assisting and working directly for the Health and Safety Manager in the delivery of Health and Safety and Fire Safety across the organisation.You will be providing a resource of advice, assistance and support to operational managers in regard to existing systems of work to assist in legislative compliance and best practice.
Freebridge Community Housing is the largest provider of housing in West Norfolk, set up in 2006 to receive the transfer of homes from the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.
Today, we own and manage around 6,800 homes across West Norfolk, making a difference to thousands of customers within communities across an area of almost 550 square miles.
We have an annual turnover of £30m and employ well over 200 people, including our own Property Services team.
Over the last 14 years, there have been numerous achievements, not least delivering our tenants' promises and bringing homes to the Decent Homes Standard, affording our customers a much better quality of living.
**Requirements**:
- Under the guidance of the Health and Safety Manager assist operational managers in the implementation of Health Safety and Welfare procedures in order to assist in delivery of both safe systems of work and a positive Health and Safety culture across theorganisation.
- Assist and advise operational mangers in completion of, delivery or review of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- To lead, review or assist operational managers in undertaking accident or incident investigations, including completion of required forms, offering recommendations around remedial actions, maintenance of records and reporting to the Health & Safety Manager,the Health & Safety Committee and Leadership Team as required.
- Assist in the undertaking of DSE/workstation assessments and in making appropriate recommendations for adjustments or specific equipment
- As directed undertake site visits to monitor Health and Safety compliance, investigate complaints, carry out surveys or take samples as appropriate.
- As directed carry out site visits to test and or monitor the testing of fire and other safety systems.
- Assist in the area of facilities management of our operational buildings in regards to testing of Fire Alarms and related safety systems.
- Assist in the carrying out of safety inspections of our operational buildings and the completion of reports where deficiencies or concerns are raised.
- Assist in the procurement, organisation and or provision of training in regard to induction, topic specific or refresher training as appropriate within areas of knowledge and experience.
- Maintenance of records of training, surveys, samples and also in relation to specific consents for any particular course of action outside of normal procedure.
- Maintenance of financial records and actions to demonstrate compliance with the Organisation's Financial Regulations.
- Lead others by example in relation to following safe systems, wearing of appropriate PPE and use of work equipment.
**KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum of 5 GCSE passes (Grade C or above) or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Relevant Health and Safety qualification to NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent level.
- At least 3 years recent and relevant experience in a similar role.
- An understanding of Health & Safety and associated legislation.
- Experience of completing investigations.
- Experience of working in Microsoft packages.
