This is a great opportunity to work for Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies as a Fire Safety Officer working within the Health and Safety Team.

**Duties include**:

- Proactivity ensuring good standards of fire safety are implemented and maintained across the constabularies
- Legislative compliance and the continuing development and provision of a safe environment for officer, staff, and the public
- Act as a resource and liaise with managers and staff at all levels within the constabularies implementing fire safety standards and initiatives
- Identify fire safety risks and assist in the overall prioritisation within the constabularies
- Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and staff at all levels of the organisation and act as a focal point for the management of fire safety issues
- Complete fire safety audits, inspections and fire risk assessments
- Provide technical expertise for all Fire Safety Management documentation
- Promote a high standard of fire safety so that members of the public, visitors, officers and staff when working or visiting our safe from fire hazards.
- Investigate fire safety incidents

If you have worked in diverse multi hazard environments and have a minimum of level 3 fire safety qualification this is the perfect opportunity for you.

You must be customer focused and able provide a professional service including advice, support resources and interventions to enable the successful resolution of a diverse range of fire safety issues within a framework of corporate and legislative requirements.

**It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria**:

- NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety and Risk Management; or Institution of Fire Engineers qualification or equivalent such as NCRQ
- Experience of providing fire safety advice and guidance in a large organisation(s)
- Experience of developing fire safety policies, procedures and creation/delivery of training
- Experience of fire safety audits, risk assessments and inspections
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to retain a clear, professional approach
- Keyboard skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and specialist software programmes
- Ability to travel as required, mainly within Norfolk and Suffolk to fulfil requirements of role
- Able to work in multi hazard environments

**It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria**:

- Member of the Institute of Fire Prevention Officers, or equivalent professional body
- Firefighting / enforcement experience
- Significant fire safety experience

Hours of work are 22.2 per week. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
