We’re looking for a Lead Communications Officer to join our Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service communications team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is creative, enthusiastic and self-motivated, with a real passion for excellence in digital, forward planning and relationship-based working and an ability to manage competing pressures to work in a fast-paced environment.

You will plan, deliver and co-ordinate communications activity to support the objectives of Norfolk Resilience Forum (NRF). This will include management of the Norfolk Prepared website and social media accounts, developing and delivering proactive PR, engagement and marketing plans and creating and commissioning material in support of these plans, as well as responding to media enquiries and ensuring your work is evaluated to provide NRF data returns. You will also lead in developing relationships with communications teams across the county to support emergency and crisis communications planning and response and recovery communications after an emergency. You will own, lead and update the NRF multi-agency communications plan and provide practical advice and support in respect of communications on a day-to-day basis, fostering good relationships with relevant stakeholders and partners.

The role reports to the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Communications Manager working to objectives agreed by the NRF resilience manager. This is a hybrid role with essential office-based working from Fire HQ at Wymondham.
